What Makes A View is a project to celebrate and protect the most beautiful views in the Blackdown Hills.
What Makes A View worked with Blackdown Hills communities and schools to find out which views mattered most to local people. It inspired children to think about and paint the beauty on their doorsteps, and encouraged local people to volunteer as landscape monitors. It also applied a scientific approach to identifying the special qualities of the Blackdown Hills' views, and produced information to help planners and decision-makers to protect the landscape better in the future.
In November 2013, What Makes A View won 'highly commended' at the Landscape Institute Awards in London.
