The Event: Wellington Monument gentle walk

Dates: 07 May 17

Location: Wellington Monument, Somerset, TA21 9PB | Grid ref: ST 143 167

Enjoy the beautiful Blackdown Hills at a very gentle pace on this short stroll along the tree-lined approach to Wellington Monument. This is a guided walk with an introduction to the monument past and present. The walk is along level, gravel pathway 1½ miles there and back.

Standing high on the Blackdown Hills, the Wellington Monument, at 174ft (53m), is the tallest three-sided obelisk in the world. An ambitious construction, it commemorates a modern yet classical hero.

All welcome, but particularly suited to those who may find a longer walk difficult.

The talk is geared towards adults, but children can come along too.

Assistance dogs and well-behaved dogs on leads also welcome.

This walk is organised by the Blackdown Hills AONB and the National Trust and is one of a series of events held in May for Naturally Healthy Month.
