Just before the First World War, an influential group of London artists spent several summers at Applehayes, near Clayhidon, creating an idyllic record of the Blackdowns landscape. Art historian, Richard Emeny, describes the period, in the actual setting of Applehayes Farm, by kind permission of the owners.
