South West Protected Landscapes Forum launches Ten Commitments

( Last Updated: 12-01-2010 )

The South West Protected Landscapes Forum is the umbrella body for the most prized places of natural beauty in Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, the Isles of Scilly, Somerset and Wiltshire.

The 15 Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and National Parks in the south west have committed to playing a key role in achieving the sustainability of these special landscapes for future generations.

Drawn from the 15 Management Plans produced by the AONB Partnerships and National Park Authorities the Ten Commitments seek to ensure a co-ordinated approach and focus resources on a core set of priority activities.

The Prospectus was launched at an event celebrating 60 years of special lanscapes in Exeter on 10 December 2009 by Sir Harry Studholme (Chairman South West Regional Development Agency), Doug Hulyer (Natural England Board Member) and Rachel Thomas (Exmoor Society).

South West Protected Landscapes - Committed to a Sustainable Future can be downloaded as a whole document or in sections from the SWPL website.
