Anyone with an idea for a community project in the Blackdown Hills can ask for help from the Sustainable Development Fund, which is now open to applications for 2011/12.
The fund is administered by the Blackdown Hills Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) team. It awards grants of up to £5000 to community groups, schools and small businesses for projects which benefit the area.
Blackdown Hills AONB manager Linda Bennett said:
"We're delighted to be able to offer SDF grants again this year. Small amounts of funding can make all the difference in helping local people to get ideas off the ground and make real improvements to their communities and the environment".
Projects funded in the past include improvements to village facilities such as community shops and allotments, green schemes, wildlife surveys, outdoor classrooms, history archives, art events and support for local producers.
