Naturally Healthy Month – May

Getting outdoors in the natural world is good fun and great for our health. Naturally Healthy Month inspires us all to enjoy and benefit from our fantastic natural environment.


It is an opportunity for us all to make the most of our local landscapes and outdoor ‘wild’ spaces, to get more physically active, improve our mental wellbeing and to enjoy the company of others.

During Naturally Healthy Month there will be events across both Devon and Somerset. Blackdown Hills AONB, just a stone’s throw from Axminster, Honiton, Taunton and Wellington, provides ample opportunity for us all to experience fresh air, spectacular views and wonderful wildlife.



Here are just a few of the activities happening in the Blackdown Hills AONB during Naturally Healthy Month:

Art workshop – making patterns of the landscape

Thursday 4 May

Workshop at the Museum of Somerset – particularly good for people with memory loss and those who may find it difficult to visit the Blackdown Hills.

Sing and stroll at Otterhead Lakes

Saturday 6 May

A singing walk at the serenely beautiful Otterhead Lakes.

Wellington Monument gentle walk

Sunday 7 May

Enjoy the beautiful Blackdown Hills at a very gentle pace on this short stroll along the tree-lined approach to Wellington Monument.

Dawn chorus walk

Saturday 13 May

Rise and shine to experience the dawn chorus at its best.

Walking for health

Mondays and Thursday
