Ordnance Survey (OS) maps

OS Landranger map

Landranger maps cover a large area, but shows fewer details. These are best for longer distance cycling, driving and holidays. You will find the Blackdown Hills on the OS Landranger 193 map.

OS Explorer maps

Ordnance Survey map 128 Taunton & Blackdown Hills

Explorer maps give greater detail, including footpaths and open access areas. They are ideal for walking, running, mountain biking and horse riding. The Blackdown Hills span three different OS Explorer maps.

  • Exploring the northern half of the Blackdown Hills National Landscape? Use OS Explorer 128. This map includes Taunton, Wellington and Ilminster
  • For the south west of the Blackdown Hills National Landscape, Exmouth and Sidmouth use OS Explorer 115
  • If you’re visiting the south east of the Blackdown Hills National Landscape, Lyme Regis and Bridport, use OS Explorer 116

OS mobile app with route suggestions

Ordnance Survey has a handy a mobile app which provides user-generated route maps in the area. You can record routes of your own and rate routes created by others. The app also has an augmented reality feature which allows you to identify key landscape features.
