Making it Local

Making it Local is a new, £2.4m fund for the Blackdown Hills and East Devon AONBs.

The fund will be open to applications for grant funding later this year.

The area covered by the fund is made up of the two AONBs, plus the towns of Wellington, Axminster, Chard, Honiton, Seaton, Sidmouth and Ottery St Mary.  The aim of programme is to 'use the outstanding environmental quality and local human potential of the area as a springboard for sustainable economic growth'.

We will be funding businesses, community groups and other organisations whose ideas fit with the three main themes of the programme:

 - Raising business performance and local employment

 - Connecting with communities

 - Optimising sustainable local resource use

There will be more detail on criteria later in the year.

The programme has a management group made up of local people representing various sectors of the community, elected in November 08.  See full list of members.

News about Making it Local will be posted on this page. For more information, email Making it Local.
