The Event: Green woodworking - make a traditional shrink pot

Dates: 08 Apr 16

Location: Young Wood, Staple Fitzpaine TA3 5AZ

10am - 5pm

Make a traditional shrink pot - a beautiful, tactile, hollowed greenwood vessel, made directly from harvested wood.  The craft involves hollowing a fresh length of round wood and making a base which is fitted to one end.  As the hollowed wood dries, it shrinks around the base, creating a snug fit; you then make a lid.  There are many designs to follow.  During the day you will harvest hazel or ash for your pot and learn how to use a saw, hatchet, auger, draw knife, whittling knife and more.  A great introduction to green woodworking in the lovely setting of our roundhouse, deep in the woods.

Cost: Adults £45, children over 14 £15. Booking essential.
