Gardeners can learn how to create a haven for birds, butterflies, bees and bugs at a free workshop in the Blackdown Hills on 2nd May.
The Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty team and Devon Wildlife Trust are putting on the event to show people how to attract a host of wildlife into their own backyards.
The workshop, which takes place at Hemyock parish hall, will be led by Devon Wildlife Trust's Kate Yeo. She said:
"Even if you have a tiny bit of outdoor space you can attract wonderful wildlife. We will be looking at creating bug homes, providing water for creatures like dragonflies, and planting to benefit all sorts of bird and animal species. None of these ideas is expensive, and with everyone's finances squeezed what could be better than enjoying your own garden buzzing with life?"
Participants will learn the principles of green gardening, look at the best plants and habitats to attract wildlife, and create a tailored plan for their own space.
Places are free but numbers are strictly limited and booking is essential. To book your place, contact the AONB office.
