Co–ordinator needed for Blackdown Hills Community Plan

( Last Updated: 30-06-2010 )

The search is on for somebody who can help thousands of people living in the Blackdown Hills to speak with one voice.

The Blackdown Hills Parishes Network (BHPN) is a group of 40 parishes, all within the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), who have come together to address common issues and priorities.  The network, which is supported by the Blackdown Hills AONB Partnership, is hoping a community plan can be produced to promote positive action for the future and a co-ordinator is now sought who will be central to putting the plan together.

Heather Stallard, chair of the Blackdown Hills Parishes Network, said: "This is an exciting opportunity for somebody who knows what makes a local community tick and who may be looking to add to their CV, or would be prepared to offer their valuable experience.
"We are looking for a person who knows the Blackdown Hills and will be able to travel locally and get around to meet people.
"They will be required to undertake research and analysis, find out common issues from parish plans and plans of other groups, undertake consultation, and facilitate workshops, and then write the plan.
"They would need to report back periodically to the BHPN's Community Plan Working Group."

Candidates will need to be able to commit one to two days a week and the work is likely to take between 12 and 18 months to complete.  They will need to have access to a computer with an internet connection, while additional administrative support such as photocopying and mail-outs will be provided by the AONB office in Hemyock.  The co-ordinator will be paid a small honorarium and their expenses will be reimbursed.

If you are interested in the position you are welcome to have an informal chat with Heather on 01823 680237, or can you can register your interest in a brief letter to the AONB office, which also holds more details of the project, at St Ivel House, Hemyock, EX15 3SJ, before July 31 2010.
